I was born and lived more than 9 years in this town on the southwest coast of Norway. After graduating from college I returned here for another 9 months to work for a while and live with my uncle and his two kids Frida and Alex.

Bellingham, Washington

I went to college at Western Washington University north of Seattle but closer to the Canadian border and Vancouver. While I was in Japan and China for some of the time, I was a student at WWU from '93 until December '98.

Summer in Tateyama and a year at IUC in Yokohama, Japan
|
|
I was first in Japan volunteering as a kindergarden teacher and English teacher at Shirayuri kindergarten in Tateyama. I later returned to study a full year at the Inter-University Center in Yokohama. The pictures are mixed collection from these two trips and biking/travel excursions I took while I was there.

Inter-Rail and Biking in Ireland, Summer 1996

My sister and I, later joined by friend Kaori, Chris, Michael, and Emily travelled Europe but spent almost all of our time in Ireland where we biked some ten days around the coast as a group known as the Concessions.

Princeton in Beijing, Summer 1998

Summer 1998 I spent 8 weeks studying 2nd year Chinese at Beijing Normal University through this program. I didn't do too much sightseeing but here are some pictures from that summer.

Trip to Japan and Malaysia, May 1999

I took two weeks off in May 1999 to accompany my uncle and aunt to Japan where Thomas wanted to visit lots of Japanese kindergartens and day care centers in order to get input and ideas from the Japanese education system. We stopped in Malaysia on the way home to shop for a day .
